The Top 100 Popular Baby Names In Ireland Have Been Announced

Yet again Jack and Emily have topped the list of the most popular baby names in Ireland, according to figures for last year, released by CSO this morning.

It's Jack's seventh year in a row at the top, while Emily has been the most popular girl's name since 2011. In fact, the boy's top five have all been in situ since 07.

Of the top 100, the name which rose most in popularity during 2014 was Evie, arriving in at 67th place - a 43 place jump from their 2013 ranking. Meanwhile Ollie was also a big climber for the boys, rising 26 places to 87th.

3. Daniel
4. Conor
5. Sean

Girls

1. Emily
2. Sophie
3. Emma
4. Grace
5. Ava

A big change from 50 years again when John and Mary were the most popular baby names in Ireland by quite some distance.
