Mattie McGrath Proves Once More Why Politicians Talking About Social Media Is So Funny

Tipperary South TD, Mattie McGrath, invariably described as colourful in reports, is not happy about government ministers and their twitter accounts.

Recent days saw Minister for Equality Aodhan O'Riordan engage in a 'twitter spat' with Senator and pro-life activist Ronan Mullen.

Mattie McGrath, determinedly pro-life and opposed to same-sex marriage, objected to O'Riordan's use of his twitter account.

He wants it regulated. He described it as an 'old adage' that a person who tweets too much becomes 'a twat' (its great that there are now 'old adages' that pertain to Twitter, a social media platform created in 2006).

We have to regulate these twatters.

Enda Kenny appeared amused by McGrath's call, and said he was introducing legislation to that effect. He said McGrath was free to inform people of this in the modern way.

And you can tweet that!
