In Photos: Explaining The Origins Of The #Manties Trend That's Taking Over Instagram

'Manties' or 'man panties' are the latest trend to hit social media, in particular the photo sharing platform, Instagram. It's a weird one although there are plenty of women who won't be complaining as it has taken over the reigns from the #dadbod trend which was a lot more forgiving on men's beer bellies than this new #manties trend which sees men posting photos of themselves in just their teeny tiny underwear to social media.

This new trend has come about following the launch of a new male lingerie line created by Australian underwear company, HommeMystere, who developed the line of matching bra and knickers sets and suspenders for men in an attempt to break gender stereotypes.

While some may be sceptical of this new fashion trend, men seem to be embracing it, with male Instagram users more than happy to don their skimpiest underwear, do their best Daniel Craig James Bond-esque impressions and post their photos using the #manties.

Some options below that might be of interest to people:

A nice bright green lacy pair could make a great gift....

Some are cutely decorated with a nice bow:

Some are loving the builders' bum look:

Some even rock the look with a chic crop top:

Trends like this tend to be fleeting and with some of the dodgy photos that are being posted, that probably isn't a bad thing.
