This Aussie View On Same Sex Marriage Is Hard Not To Read In An Alf Stewart Accent

Well stone the flamin’ crows! It's hard not to read it in his accent but I'm sure Alf Stewart would be fuming after reading this biased letter in yesterday’s edition of the ‘West Australian’ newspaper, a rather right wing newspaper of importance in Australia.

Strewth, who would have thought ‘two blokes or two sheilas’ might actually want to marry each other and be able to do so, as equals in society? Absurd. After all, 'equality' is just a ‘nostalgic touch dating back to probably 1381’ don’t you know?

With the recent same-sex marriage referendum being passed in Ireland, it’s good to see the impact it has had on other countries and the debate it has set in motion all around the world. It's also ironic that the one criticism you could have had on Saturday - that any group's rights should be put to a vote in the first place - is exactly the opposite of what this guy is arguing.

I'd imagine Alf throwing around a few of these phrases after reading this letter.

Of course, all people are entitled to voice their opinions but let’s hope someone airs their opposing views to this archaic letter, and soon.
