Cardinal Pietro Parolin - considered to be second only to the Pope, within the Vatican - has described Saturday's marriage referendum result as 'a defeat for humanity.'
What utter bollocks.
Parolin told a conference in Rome that he was 'deeply saddened by the result,' adding:
The church must take account of this reality, but in the sense that it must strengthen its commitment to evangelisation. I think that you cannot just talk of a defeat for Christian principles, but of a defeat for humanity.
This nonsense, comes only a few days after Archbishop Diarmuid Martin said the church needs a 'reality check.' It would seem even Dougal himself is more grounded in that aspect.
